Valorant currently has ten different characters, or Agents, to choose from, split into four different classes: Controller, Duelist, Sentinel, and Initiator. Brimstone falls into the Controller category and happens to be one of the most useful Agents in the game. He’s got a lot of utility to make use of, usually revolving around affecting sizeable areas with a certain effect at the same t
At higher ranks near the top, map knowledge is implicit, and players know virtually everything about the layout of each space. This is where the edge comes in, as players discover the best places to watch for even a moment of peeking to get a headshot. The buying economy is also on autopilot at this point, and players know exactly what to purchase during the first four to six rounds with little varia
Much like the Incendiary Launcher, this can be a great way to force an enemy out of good cover, or out of a small room, considering the damage radius of the ability. This can drastically turn the tide of a round, forcing an enemy to give up a really advantageous position and making them fight on your te
This gun has a fast rate of fire coupled with an enormous 100-round magazine. Like the Ares, it also needs a moment to charge up starting off at 12 rounds a second and increasing to 15.6 rounds per second. This is the perfect weapon for defending a site and stopping enemies in their tra
The Incendiary can get into areas that you may not even be able to see too, since it can bounce around corners. This is another ability that’s really going to reward map knowledge; once you’ve got a really good understanding of the map, the angles, and the areas that enemies are likely to be in, you can get a lot of use out of the Incendiary Launcher without even having to put yourself in harm’s
At the start of each round, players will have a moment to spend their Creds (the in-game currency) to purchase weapons, armor, and abilities. This is called the Buy Phase, and the number of Creds available is directly related to securing certain actions in the previous round. Dying right away will award only a small number of Creds, whereas eliminating opponents, winning the round, and planting the Spike will award m
Riot Games has already explained that the ranking system in VALORANT features a total of eight different ranks with three tiers each, except for the highest rank, Valorant. What is not stated is how similar ranking feels compared to CS:GO , both in improving as a player and what to expect from teammates at each r
The Ares has a large, 50-round magazine and is great at wall penetration. At its price point it can be a viable alternative to a rifle, although it causes slightly less damage. The rate of fire starts out at 10 rounds per second but increases to 13 rounds per second as you fire. It comes with a 1.25x scope for easier target acquisit
This rifle only has a semi-automatic firing mode, but does solid damage. It has a better zoom than any of the other rifles with a 1.5x scope, yet only has a small 12 round magazine. It’s strong point is long-range shooting because there’s no drop-off in dam
This is the cheaper rifle of the two and packs less of a punch. Headshots are a one-shot kill, but if you miss it will give your enemy an easy chance to take you down. It can be hip-fired or using its 2.5x zoom sc
Phoenix’s Blazewall is decent for redirected here blocking vision, but mainly a great way to heal up quickly. His fireball is capable of self-healing too, not to mention blocking and damaging foes. Lastly, Run It Back gives Phoenix a free chance to push into any room, instantly reviving him if taken down during its duration; His ultimate ability is unique and endlessly use
This smoke can be used offensively to great effect too, used to block off valuable enemy sightlines allowing for you and/or your team to enter a site without defenders having access to their most favorable positions. Defenders are going to adjust to this as the match plays out, and you’ll have to feel out which areas they’re moving to in order to continue getting value out of these the longer the match g
The Phantom has a faster fire rate than the Vandal and has less recoil. The drawback is that it has a shorter effective range with the damage dropping off at longer ranges. At the same price as the Vandal it is a great alternative for shorter ran
One of the lesser-used abilities at Brimstone’s disposal (for good reason) is his Stim Beacon. Tossing this out will grant you and any allies in the radius RapidFire either while standing in the effect, or for four seconds after leaving the area. This RapidFire can doesn’t honestly make a huge difference and isn’t going to do much for your team, but if you’re pushing with a few teammates into the same area, you may as well give everybody the bo
Jett is certainly a fan-favorite, so I imagine this is where I’ll get the most backlash. Heck, even I play Jett more than the other agents. Her abilities are endlessly fun, with speedy dashes and quick, versatile smokes. Jett’s primary function is to outmaneuver and overwhelm opponents, requiring clever movement and precise aim with her knives. In the right hands, she can run away with match MVP easily. However, aside from her less-than-unique smokes, her abilities are rather inward. That is to say, Jett doesn’t have a ton of avenues to assist her team, other than to slay
