Senegal moves towards dematerialization of justice services

The digital transformation of Senegal’s justice system is well underway, with a workshop held in Dakar to validate the digital plan for 2023-2024.

According to Ismaila Madior Fall, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, “the 2023-2027 digital justice plan will enable us to build a genuine service that will benefit all agents of the judicial administration and beneficiaries of its services.”

The scheme will make it easier to manage procedures and deal with Ministry of Justice departments online, using appropriate digital tools.

With this innovation, litigants will be able to submit requests online, in addition to ensuring better judicial protection for minors. The prison administration will also be able to better monitor inmates.

According to the Minister, this “digital justice scheme 2023-2027 will make it possible to build a genuine digital justice service, which will benefit all players in the judicial administration and users of the justice service.”

The validation workshop was organized in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). This initiative thus represents a major milestone in the process of fully dematerializing judicial procedures, in addition to promoting faster decisions and simplifying procedures and formalities for citizens.
